Outside that radius we quote travel as a separate line upfront. SSEG registration is quoted separately because municipal fees differ.

Yes, in four ways. A rental gives you the system for a monthly fee with no upfront cost and no ownership. Rent-to-own is similar but the system becomes yours at the end of the term. Asset finance is a plain loan against the installed system, paid off over a fixed term, and you own it from day one. And if you have a bond, most banks will add a solar installation to your home loan, which is usually the cheapest money of the four. We work with independent providers for each, and we'll match you to the one that fits your situation rather than push a single product. You apply with the provider, they assess and approve, and we install once the finance is in place. The package price on this page doesn't change whether you pay cash or finance.

Yes, if it connects to the grid. Every grid-tied system must be registered as Small-Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) with your municipality or with Eskom in direct-supply areas, and the inverter must comply with NRS 097-2-1. We handle the application, from R8,500, covering the compliance inspection, the NRS 097-2 test report, the single line diagram and the submission, and we configure the inverter to your utility's grid code. The process, cost and timeline differ between Tshwane, Cape Town, Polokwane and Eskom areas, which is why we quote it separately rather than hiding an average in the package price.

It can, if it's sized for it. The gateway switches the house to battery with no measurable interruption, and the inverter delivers double its rated power for 10 seconds so pool pumps and gate motors start normally. Whether "the whole house" is realistic depends on your battery size and what's running: a 6 kWh entry system carries lights, WiFi, TV and the fridge through a 4-hour stage comfortably, while running ovens and geysers through an outage needs the larger packages. We size this with you at the assessment, and we'll tell you if a smaller package won't do what you want.

Yes, properly. The three-phase range covers 5 kW to 30 kW, and our packages use the 15 kW and 25 kW units. Output is unbalanced per phase, meaning each phase gets what it needs rather than a rigid third, and the whole supply is backed up. This is SigenStor's biggest advantage in South Africa, where most larger homes are three phase and most residential batteries, including the Tesla Powerwall 3, only handle single phase.

Usually, yes. The Essential Backup package at R74,500 is priced exactly for this: your panels stay on the roof and SigenStor becomes the new heart of the system. Our system designers check your array's voltage and string configuration against the inverter's operating window before we quote, because panel voltages from older installations don't always match modern MPPT ranges. That check is part of the free assessment.

10 years on the inverter system and battery modules, 2 years on the gateway and communication module. The conditions worth knowing: the system must connect to the internet periodically or the term can reduce to a 5-year floor, claims must be lodged within 30 days of a failure, the warranty excludes installations within 500 m of the coastline, and it only transfers to a new owner if the system stays in the original property. We publish these because you should know them before buying, not when claiming. As our client, we lodge and manage any claim for you. One care note from the fine print worth knowing: after a full discharge, the battery should be recharged within 7 days to stay healthy, which the system manages itself as long as it isn't switched off and abandoned.

Everything we did, as opposed to what Sigenergy built: mounting, cabling, distribution board work, earthing and commissioning. It runs for 10 years if we service the system once a year, and for 2 years if we don't. The annual service is a paid visit, priced by the size of your system and confirmed with your installation quote. It's how we keep the promise honest: we check connections, torque, firmware, battery health and the CoC-relevant parts of the installation, and we log it. It sits alongside Sigenergy's hardware warranty, not instead of it.

A fair question, and the honest answer has three parts. Sigenergy was founded in 2022 by the former head of Huawei's solar inverter business, is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and builds at a scale most old brands never reached, so this isn't a garage startup. Second, the hardware has performed well across our installations since it entered South Africa. Third, we've been trading since 2010 and stock six battery brands: our workmanship cover and support don't depend on any one manufacturer's fortunes. If the brand's age still bothers you, we'd rather sell you a Victron than talk you past a real concern.

Sigenergy claims run through their service system with diagnostics done remotely where possible, and we lodge the claim, manage the 30-day deadline and handle the site visit. Yes, and faster than almost anything else you can bolt to a house. The optional DC charging module delivers 12.5 kW, upgradeable to 25 kW, through a CCS2 connector, several times faster than a typical 7 kW home wallbox, and it can charge straight from your solar. Vehicle-to-home, where the car powers the house, is built into the hardware and awaits standards and vehicle support before it can be switched on here. Yes, and this is where the AI earns its keep. On a time-of-use tariff the system learns your consumption pattern, watches the weather forecast, and schedules battery charging into cheap periods while spending stored energy through expensive ones. On a flat municipal tariff the benefit is smaller but the self-consumption optimisation still applies. We configure the tariff structure in the app at handover.

Yes, through the app's native Shelly integration. A Shelly smart switch on the geyser circuit lets mySigen turn the geyser on automatically whenever your panels produce more than the house is using, so surplus solar heats water instead of being wasted or exported. The same works for pool pumps and up to 24 devices per system, each schedulable around time-of-use tariff windows. During an outage, devices you've marked non-critical switch off automatically to stretch the battery. We install and pair the switches as part of the job if you want them.

Yes, and better than most systems do it. The Sigen gateway has a dedicated generator port with 2-wire auto-start: during an extended outage, when the battery reaches a set level, the system starts the generator automatically, uses it to carry the house and recharge, then shuts it down. For farms, smallholdings and areas with long unplanned outages, this turns solar, battery and generator into one automatic system instead of three things you juggle manually.

Then the system runs in zero-export mode. The gateway monitors your connection in real time and holds export at zero, so nothing flows back into the grid even for a moment. Solar surplus goes into the battery, the geyser or other smart loads instead. In practice, demonstrating certified zero export is often what gets an SSEG application through quickly in stricter municipalities, and we configure and document it as part of the registration.

Usually, yes, and by a wide margin. SigenStor's single-phase units accept up to double their rating in panels, so a 6 kW inverter can carry up to 12 kWp of PV, and the larger units run up to four independent MPP trackers, which lets arrays split across east and west roof faces. Practically that means you can start with the panel count in your package and grow the array as budget allows, without touching the inverter. We design the string layout with that headroom in mind from day one.

You choose, and choosing well is how a smaller battery feels bigger. The gateway supports whole-home backup and prioritised backup: essentials like lights, WiFi, fridge, alarm and gate stay on, while heavy circuits like the oven and geyser element sit outside the backup or switch off automatically through smart load control when the grid fails. We plan this circuit split with you at the assessment, because it's the single biggest factor in how long your battery lasts through an outage.

Modules are 6 kWh or 9 kWh, and one unit takes up to six of them, just over 54 kWh. You can start with one module and add more years later: each module has its own optimiser, so new and old modules work together without the whole bank degrading to the oldest module's level. Two practical limits: a wall-mounted stack takes at most two modules, so three or more means a floor-standing tower, and one HomePro gateway manages one tower. Beyond that, additional towers and a gateway that manages several controllers are added for larger homes and smallholdings.

Most residential packages are installed in one to two days on site, depending on panel count and how your distribution board is laid out. SSEG registration runs on the municipality's clock afterwards, which we manage but can't accelerate. From accepting a quote to switch-on is typically inside two to three weeks, stock permitting.

Support runs on two levels. Sigenergy operates in South Africa with local distribution and technical support, and warranty claims are processed through their service system with remote diagnostics. Day to day, though, your support is us: we're the approved installer, we monitor the system if you allow it, we lodge any claims, and we've had branches in Centurion, Cape Town and Polokwane long before this product existed.
